Peggy,

Thanks for sharing your path to recovery. It is an exciting time to be a musician and teacher, with so much being learned about how the brain functions, and especially the much greater plasticity of the adult brain than was previously thought possible.

Your gracious persistence and tenacity are well-known to those of us who know and love you. I was so delighted to see you recently at a teacher event and see how well you are doing!

All the best,

Mark Pf...

Hi Anne-Marie,
After four months, my doctor said,"if you were a normal person, I would consider you fully recovered". I said, "it's good to know you consider me abnormal" We both had a good laugh and we both knew that I would not consider myself fully recovered until I had regained every ability I had ever enjoyed as a full-time musician. No, I didn't practice long and hard enough to solo with the symphony agqain, but after recovering enough to demonstrate most of the beginning and intermediate students that I taught, I decided I had other things that were even more important than practicing the violin or viola. Remember, I am now in my eighties and have achieved many of life's goals. There are still a few things I want to do with what's left of my life, but I don't think that practicing four hours a day is one of them.--peggy

Thank you Peggy and Mark. I'm interested to know if Peggy considers herself fully recovered and if so how long it eventually took?
